ferry rides

As a resident of the Pacific Northwest for over twenty years, riding the ferry has always captured my imagination.

Recycled Cycles, Seattle WA

Cycling has been an obsession since I first rode on a borrowed dilapidated touring bike- road racing, cyclocross, bike delivery, bike touring, mountain biking- cross country / enduro, single speeds, vintage bikes, new bikes, carbon fiber, steel, aluminum, clips, clip-less, flats, drop bars, flat bars, wide bars; all of it centers me.

Recycled Cycles has been my go to bike shop through all of my cycling adventures. The shop is close to the University of Washington with views of Portage Bay. The space itself feels like a shrine, paying homage to the evolution of cycling. The staff is friendly and mechanics knowledgable; making for an overall positive experience. They helped me imagine and build up my new gravel bike; a Kona Sutra. I captured the following images when I picked up my bike from the shop.

Chattanooga National Cemetery, Tennessee

During a recent visit to Tennessee I was lucky enough to connect with one of my favorite humans…my grandpa. His sweet demeanor, sharp mind and curious nature is an inspiration that the golden years can offer a glow that their moniker describes. He wanted to visit the grave of his great grandfather (who he shares a name with) at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. As you can see by the photos- it was a precious moment.

Oregon

A frequent haunt…whether mountain biking in the Hood River Gorge, visiting our friends in Hillsboro, trailer camping on the coast or walking the streets of Portland. It feels like home away from home. Following are some images from my visits.

The Oregon Coast - the spirit of this part of the world has always spoke to my soul. It is a place we visit often as a family; each trip offers little moments like these that I carry with me until my return.

This time-lapse video was captured at my friends property in Mosier…Mount Adams is the beauty in the distance.

Hillsboro - the home of dear family friends. We usually head down in the fall for the Wine Crush, as our friends have a few vines that need picking. This image came during a summer visit…the light was…well you find the word to describe it.
